(...) la migration des saumons a disparu de certaines régions probablement du fait de l'abaissement du pH. Cette toxicité n'est sans doute pas liée seulement à l'acidité mais en partie à la mobilisation de métaux toxiques par les pluies acides (aluminium). La toxicité des métaux est de plus accrue par l'acidité elle-même. Des concentrations élevées en métaux toxiques (Zn, Ni) ont été rapportées dans ces eaux.
